If you're just starting out as a webmaster, you might look through the search engine results for your keywords and wonder, "why isn't my site on Google?" Unfortunately, it can take months or even years to start showing up in the search results for phrases that will draw in the readers and customers you want to attract. Chances are, if you search for your domain name, you'll show up right away, but that isn't going to help customers find you!
That leaves the most important question: "How can I get my site on Google?"
Not unlike the old joke - "How do I get to Carnegie Hall?" "Practice, practice, practice." - getting to the top of the SERPs takes time and dedication. However, when you're first starting out, the best way to do it is to start small. Think of local or specialized keywords, and target those on your pages and when link-building. Less competitive phrases will start ranking sooner than more competitive ones, and clients will be able to find you in their searches. Over time, you can begin ranking for more challenging terms as well.
Though it may seem like a lot of work, this blog contains plenty of simple SEO basics you can try in order to accomplish your goals. Make a plan and stick to it, and results will come your way!

If you've been working on internet marketing for awhile, you've probably discovered that there are a lot of foreign-language sites that will approach you for link trades or other business purposes. Working on a major business deal, you may realize that you need a translator for Spanish, French, German, or another language.
It might seem like a lot of trouble to hire a translator, but many services make it fairly easy (and affordable), and it can save a lot of hassle in the long run. Negotiating marketing, link trades, and other business is time-consuming enough if everyone speaks the same language. Throw two different languages into the mix, and you're looking at a week's worth of headaches just to get a few links posted. When you think of time as money, a translator may just be the most efficient option!

If you work in the IT industry, you've probably already realized how important it is to keep up with advancements in technology. One of the best ways to do that is by reading blog where others have compiled tech news and information.
I was doing some research last week and happened upon this technology blog. I like that it's a combination of news (like the post they have up about the NSA's new cryptology center in Georgia) and helpful tips for computer professionals and amateurs alike. The tutorials are clear and helpful, and you can search for what you're interested in learning at any given time.
Check it out and let me know what you think. What are your favorite tech blogs?

Though certainly not the only place you should be obtaining backlinks from, directories can be a good source of categorized hardlinks. I recently discovered OpenUrlDirectory.com which is a human-edited business open directory of useful, informative, family-friendly, and spam-free websites. Sites are manually reviewed and categorized into different subjects so that web users can easily browse through the site.
From the managers of the site: "We aim to provide the best resources for our visitors for a pleasant web experience. Although most of the websites in our free link directory are the result of our own research we also encourage users to submit their sites for review and possible inclusion. Please note that we review all submissions making sure they are acceptable for our visitors. We are constantly looking for the best sites offering rich content and information and appreciate submissions from our users. We offer free and paid submissions. Get started by browsing through our comprehensive list of categories and submit site."
If you're looking for links back from a relevant directory page, give them a look!

Optimizing your website so that it will perform well in Google's organic search results is very important when it comes to success - whether you're launching a new business venture or running for president. We've all heard about Rick Santorum's search engine issue, and anyone in the industry is able to look at that and realize that someone on his team dropped the ball in a big way, and just this week, I saw an ad from President Obama's campaign seeking internet marketing gurus to work toward his reelection.
No matter who you are - if you want to control your online presence, you need help from SEO professionals. These experts handle everything from link building, content writing, and meta-tags up to reputation management and Facebook or Twitter marketing. Of course, these are things you can do - or learn to do - for yourself, but if you need immediate results, you can't afford to mess around.
SEO services vary a lot in terms of price and capabilities, but the best ones can take over for you or simply act as a consultant while you learn to manage your own website promotion.

Drupal is a popular open source software used for content management and web design. Although it is free and accessible, someone who is inexperienced in programming may still have a difficult time setting up a site without professional assistance.
Many companies specialize in Drupal web design, so whether you're in Istanbul or NYC, chances are good that you can find an experienced programmer to get your site up and running without a hitch.
From there, you can worry about marketing your site the same as you would any other - through link trades, social media, and of course, fresh, high quality content that will keep customers returning to your site to see what's new!

Though most of our focus is on internet marketing and SEO, we also do some in-person marketing at trade shows and events. Even the marketers have to brand themselves, after all!
When we're preparing to attend a show or other venture, one thing we always think about is promotion. Small giveaway items are often a huge success among prospective clients, and having a table or booth full of trinkets can help draw in people who might not bother to stop by otherwise.
In the past, we've put out a selection of items like pens emblazoned with our logo, t-shirts, and custom lapel pins with kitschy sayings on them. It's important not to overdo it with the logo - most people are fine with using a logo pen, but they might prefer a t-shirt with some other design and a less visible web address or brand name. The same with pins - in our case, we can put on a cute saying about blogging or a graphic depicting a person at the computer with a tiny url at the bottom. People will wear those and not even realize they're advertising for us!
There are so many different promotional items to choose from. Why not take a look around and see if there isn't a way for you to brand your own business with them?
